Rudrabhishek is the bathing of the Shiva linga with water, milk, curd, honey and ghee while the purohit chants the Rudram: the Sri Rudram (Namakam and Chamakam) in the South, the Rudri (Rudrashtadhyayi) in North India and Gujarat. It is done on Mondays, in Shravan, on Pradosh and on Maha Shivaratri night, or for a wish of your own. If you have no linga at home, the purohit can bring one or make a clay parthiva linga.
Duration: A standard home Rudrabhishek takes about one and a half to two hours; Ekadasha Rudrabhishek, with eleven recitations of the Rudram, takes longer and needs more than one purohit. Agree the form with the purohit.
