Terms of Service

Welcome to Purohit. By using our application and services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Purohit, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

Purohit is a platform that helps you:

• View daily panchang (Hindu calendar) information
• Find auspicious muhurats for ceremonies and events
• Generate kundali (horoscope) based on birth details
• Request purohits (Hindu priests) for pujas and ceremonies - we forward your request and purohits contact you directly
• Access devotional content and spiritual resources
• Make invitation cards and biodatas; some can be bought without the purohit.app marks
• List a marriage profile and find a match on Vivah by Purohit, our matrimony service (section 14)

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of Purohit, you must:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Be responsible for all activity under your account

4. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the service only for lawful purposes
• Not misuse the platform to spam or harass purohits or other users
• Not attempt to reverse engineer or hack the application
• Provide honest reviews and feedback

5. Purohit Listings and Requests

Regarding purohit requests:

• We facilitate connections between devotees and purohits but are not a party to the service agreement between them
• Purohits listed on our platform are independent service providers
• We do not guarantee the availability, quality, or accuracy of any purohit's services
• All arrangements - dates, dakshina, samagri, and any cancellation - are made directly between you and the purohit. Purohit.app does not take or handle payments between you and a purohit, and is not a party to that arrangement
• A dakshina shown on a purohit's page is set by that purohit and is indicative. The final amount, what it includes and travel are agreed between you and the purohit, and it is paid to the purohit directly. Purohit.app does not set, collect or guarantee it
• Puja photos on a purohit's page are posted by that purohit, who is responsible for having permission to share them. Anyone shown in a photo can ask us to remove it (“Report this photo” under the photo, or WhatsApp) and we delete it

6. Astrological and Panchang Information

Important: Panchang, muhurat, and kundali information provided by Purohit is for reference and devotional purposes only. This information:

• Is based on traditional Hindu astronomical calculations
• Should not be the sole basis for major life decisions
• May vary based on different panchangam traditions and regional practices
• Is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified jyotishi (astrologer)

7. Data and Privacy

Your use of Purohit is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using our service, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described therein.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Purohit are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Purohit is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• We are not responsible for any disputes between users and purohits
• We are not liable for decisions made based on panchang or kundali information

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon termination, your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka.

13. Buying a card

• What you buy: the right to download one card that you made, without the purohit.app marks, as an image and a print PDF. The price is shown in rupees on the card's page before you start, and it is the whole price: there are no extra fees.
• You make it: the card is drawn on your own device from what you type. You are responsible for its words, names, dates, places and photos, and for having the right to use any photo you add.
• The date line: when we fill in the tithi, nakshatra and other panchang details, we calculate them for the date, time and city you give. Traditions differ, so check the line with your purohit before you print. Section 6 applies.
• After paying, you can change the card and download it again at no extra cost, on the same device and browser. The card is saved only in that browser; if its saved data is cleared, the card cannot be opened again.
• Payments are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
• Refunds follow our Refunds and cancellations policy; delivery is described in our Delivery policy.
• The card layouts and wording templates are ours. Some ornaments on the cards are public-domain or CC0 art (old ornament books, museum textiles); each is listed with its source in our art sources. Use your card for your own ceremony, and share or print it as you like. Do not resell the designs or templates, or copy them into another product.

14. Marriage Profiles

Vivah by Purohit (purohit.app/matrimony), our matrimony service, is for finding a partner for marriage. It is not a dating service.

• A bride must be at least 18 and a groom at least 21, the legal ages for marriage in India. The person holding the account must be an adult.
• You may make a profile for yourself or for a relative. A profile for someone else is shown only after that person confirms it from their own phone number, and they can pause or delete it at any time.
• When you make a profile you confirm that the person intends to marry and that the details are correct. purohit.app does not check the details; only the phone number is verified.
• Do not put phone numbers, emails, links or social media handles in a profile. Numbers are shared only when both sides say yes.
• Asking for or offering dowry is a crime under the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. Do not mention it in a profile or ask for it.
• No obscene material, no abuse, no lines excluding a caste or community, and no profile of anyone without their consent.
• Never send money to anyone you meet through Vivah by Purohit, and report anyone who asks.
• Use a phone number you are shown only to talk about the proposal. Do not share it or use it to harass anyone.
• Every report gets a ticket number and an outcome within 36 hours. A profile reported as made of someone without their consent, or of a person under age, is paused at once while we check. We may pause or remove any profile that breaks these rules, and keep records as the law requires.
• We remind members of these rules every three months.
