About Saraswati Puja
Saraswati Puja is the worship of the goddess of learning. In Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Assam it falls on Vasant Panchami (Sri Panchami): the books, pens and inkpot of the house are placed before the goddess, everyone offers the pushpanjali, and a small child may have hate khori - the first letters, written at her feet. Many homes do a short puja and the visarjan the next morning. In the South she is worshipped in the last days of Navratri: on the Moola nakshatra day in many Andhra and Telangana homes, and on Navami with Ayudha Puja in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Duration: A home puja is a single morning sitting, a little longer with hate khori; the purohit fixes it to the day's muhurat. The morning is busy for every purohit, so ask early.
