2027 is a clean nine-day Navratri with no tithi skips - Pratipada through Navami run on consecutive days, anchored by Durga Ashtami on 7 October and Vijayadashami on 9 October.

The key days for pujas

  • Ghatasthapana (30 September) - the kalash is installed in the morning muhurat; this sthapana is the formal start of the nine nights and the most common purohit booking of the festival.
  • Durga Ashtami (7 October) - Sandhi Puja and Kanya Puja in many households; the heaviest puja day of the nine in most regions.
  • Maha Navami (8 October) - Ayudha Puja in South India, when tools, vehicles and instruments are worshipped; Navami havan concludes the nine nights in the North.
  • Vijayadashami (9 October) - Dussehra: Shami and Aparajita puja, Vidyarambham for children in Kerala, and the day new ventures are begun. See our Dussehra guide for the rituals of the day.

Booking a purohit for Navratri 2027

Ghatasthapana morning and Ashtami are the two slots that fill first - the sthapana muhurat window on 30 September is only a few hours and every household that keeps a kalash wants a purohit in it. Book ahead if you want the sthapana done at home; a standard Ghatasthapana with puja takes about an hour. In Bengal, the same days are Durga Puja - Bengali households can find purohits for bodhon and the pushpanjali days on Purohit.app.

Around Navratri 2027

  • Ganesh Chaturthi - Saturday, 4 September 2027

How we verify: dates and muhurat timings in our guides are cross-checked against the panchang before publishing, and practical details - samagri, durations, dakshina ranges - reflect real bookings on Purohit.app. Traditions vary by community; your purohit's guidance prevails.
