What a Satyanarayan invitation says
A Hindi card opens with "।। श्री गणेशाय नमः ।।", says the hosts have arranged the Satyanarayan puja at home by the grace of God and the blessings of the elders, invites the guest "सपरिवार", gives the date with the "शुभ मिती" tithi line, and ends with the hosts' names under "निमंत्रक". A Marathi card is an invitation to the "श्री सत्यनारायणाची महापूजा" with the "मिती ... शके ... या शुभमुहूर्तावर" line and "~ आपले नम्र ~". A Kannada card is a "ಶ್ರೀ ಸತ್ಯನಾರಾಯಣ ಮಹಾಪೂಜೆ ಆಹ್ವಾನ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆ" with the "ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ..." line and "ತಮ್ಮ ಆಗಮನಾಭಿಲಾಷಿಗಳು".

Choosing the date
The Satyanarayan puja is kept on the day the panchang lists for the Satyanarayan vrat, and about once in three full moons that is the day before the Purnima printed in most calendars. In October 2026 Purnima runs from 11:55 am on Sunday 25 October to 9:41 am on Monday 26 October: calendars print Purnima on Monday, and the puja is kept on Sunday.
The day can also differ from city to city. On 1 November 2028 it is Wednesday in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai, and Thursday in Kolkata and Chennai, which is why the maker asks for your city first. What do I write on a Satyanarayan puja invitation?
The name of the puja, who is inviting, the date and time, the tithi, the address, and when prasad or the meal is served. Hindi and Marathi cards usually open with "।। श्री गणेशाय नमः ।।" and end with the hosts' names under "निमंत्रक" or "आपले नम्र". The examples on this page show the full wording in each language.
Which date should I choose: Purnima or the day before?
The puja is kept on the day the panchang lists for the Satyanarayan vrat. About once in three full moons that is the day before the Purnima shown in most calendars, because Purnima begins before midday is over: in October 2026 it is Sunday 25 October, while calendars show Purnima on Monday 26 October. Type your city and the card maker shows the right day with the hours Purnima runs. Confirm the time with your purohit.
Can the puja be done on a day that is not Purnima?
Yes. Many people do it after a griha pravesh, a wedding, a birth or a new job, and some traditions keep it on Ekadashi, Sankranti or Thursdays. Tick "A different date" and the card takes the tithi for that day.
How much does the card cost?
Nothing: making the card and downloading the WhatsApp image and the print PDF are always free, with no sign-up. The card carries a small purohit.app line at the foot; removing it is a small fee of ₹10, paid once for this card by UPI, card or netbanking, which helps us keep Purohit.app running.
Do you keep the names and address I type?
No. The card is made on your phone, and your names and address stay there. Only the city, date and time go to our server, to find the Purnima days and work out the tithi line, and they are not kept.
Can I print it?
Yes. "Download PDF (for printing)" gives a 5 x 7 inch card with 3 mm extra on each side for trimming. Ask the shop to print it at actual size.
How do I send it on WhatsApp?
Tap "Send on WhatsApp". Your phone shows its share list; choose WhatsApp, then the people or groups.
