Questions people ask

What is written on a shashtipoorthi card?

Who invites (usually the children, sometimes the couple themselves), both names with Shri and Smt., the milestone and the birthday, the date with the homam muhurat and the tithi line, the programme, the venue and the lunch, and often the grandchildren's names at the end under "With Blessings and Love".

Who sends it, the couple or their children?

Most often the children invite for their parents: "... cordially invite you to grace the occasion of the Shashtipoorthi of their beloved parents". The couple can also invite themselves; choose who is inviting and the wording changes.

Can the card honour one person if the spouse has passed away?

Yes. Leave the spouse's name empty and the sentences speak of one parent. If you wish to remember them, add your own line at the end of the card. The person being honoured is never marked as late.

What are bhimaratha shanti, sathabhishekam and sahasra chandra darshan?

Later milestone ceremonies for elders. The maker starts bhimaratha shanti at 70 and sathabhishekam at 80, and sahasra chandra darshan, the sight of a thousand full moons, carries no number; traditions count these differently, so your purohit decides which applies, and you can type the birthday yourself.

What does it cost, and can I change it later?

Nothing: making the card and downloading the WhatsApp image and the print PDF are always free, with no sign-up. The card carries a small purohit.app line at the foot; removing it is a small fee of ₹10, paid once for this card by UPI, card or netbanking, which helps us keep Purohit.app running.
