Annaprashan invitation card
The first rice ceremony card, with the samvatsara or Vikram Samvat line written for your date.
Free forever: the image for WhatsApp and the PDF for printing, with a small purohit.app line at the foot. To remove the line, pay a small fee of ₹10: it helps us keep Purohit.app running.

1. Card language
English for now. Hindi, Kannada and Marathi cards come once a native reader has checked the wording.
2. Choose a design
3. Who is inviting?
This changes who speaks on the card and whose names are signed at the end.
4. Fill the details
The child
This is the title of the card and the word used in its sentences.
For a boy we write Chi. before the name; a girl is named alone.
Printed under the title in a gold ring. Choose it from your gallery.
The photo stays on this phone. It is never uploaded.
Parents and grandparents
Just the name. The card adds Mrs. / Smt. itself.
Printed after the father's and grandfather's names.
Date and muhurat
Enter the date, the muhurat time and the town: we work out the date line for you.
The time your purohit gave.
Not printed. The panchang uses this town, not where you live: a Tirupati mundan uses Tirupati.
Venue and programme
Functions print in date and time order.
Top and bottom of the card
Clear it if you want no line at the top.
Printed as "|| Shree ... Prasanna ||".
Leave it empty to sign with the names above. Add uncles, aunts or children here.
Anything else to print at the foot of the card, as you want it to read.
Card wording
The words the maker starts from, filled with example names. Change the names, the date line and the programme before you make your card.

Questions people ask
When is annaprashan done?
Most commonly in the sixth month for boys and the fifth or seventh month for girls. In Bengal, mukhe bhaat is often in the sixth or eighth month for boys and the fifth, seventh or ninth for girls. Your purohit fixes the muhurat; our annaprashan guide explains the customs.
What should an annaprashan card say?
Who invites, the baby's name, the ceremony (annaprashan, mukhe bhaat or choroonu), the date with the muhurat and the tithi line, the venue and the lunch. The maker writes it the way printed Indian-English cards do: "... solicit your gracious presence & blessings on the auspicious occasion of the Annaprashan of their beloved daughter".
Can I print the Bengali date in brackets on an English mukhe bhaat card?
Yes. Bengali cards often print the English date first with the Bengali date in brackets. We do not work out the Bengali date yet, so copy it from your panjika or your purohit and type it into the date line box, which is always editable.
Is my child's photo or our address uploaded anywhere?
No. The card is drawn on your own phone or computer, and the photo, the names and the address stay there. Only the date, time and town go to our server, to work out the date line.
What does it cost, and can I change it later?
Nothing: making the card and downloading the WhatsApp image and the print PDF are always free, with no sign-up. The card carries a small purohit.app line at the foot; removing it is a small fee of ₹10, paid once for this card by UPI, card or netbanking, which helps us keep Purohit.app running.
