Kannada wedding card matter (ಲಗ್ನಪತ್ರಿಕೆ)
The wording printed lagna patrikes actually use - "ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ... ಸಲ್ಲುವ ಶುಭ ... ಲಗ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ" for a muhurat window, "... ಲಗ್ನದ ಶುಭ ಮುಹೂರ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ" for one time - with the panchang line worked out for your date and city.
Free forever: the image for WhatsApp and the PDF for printing, with a small purohit.app line at the foot. To remove the line, pay a small fee of ₹29: it helps us keep Purohit.app running.

What goes on the card
A Kannada lagna patrike opens with an invocation - "॥ ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣೇಶಾಯ ನಮಃ ॥" or the family deity as "ಶ್ರೀ ... ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ" - and then gives the date the traditional way: the Shalivahana Shaka year, the name of the samvatsara, the month, the paksha (ಶುದ್ಧ or ಬಹುಳ), the tithi and the day, and the lagna "ಸಲ್ಲುವ" at the muhurat.
The groom is written "ಚಿ॥" and the bride "ಚಿ॥ ಸೌ॥", each with their parents - mother first is common - and the card closes with "ತಮ್ಮ ಆಗಮನಾಭಿಲಾಷಿಗಳು" over the names of those inviting. Each side usually prints its own card, naming its own child first; the maker changes the order when you choose whose card it is.

Questions people ask
How much does it cost?
Nothing: making the card and downloading the WhatsApp image and the print PDF are always free, with no sign-up. The card carries a small purohit.app line at the foot; removing it is a small fee of ₹29, paid once for this card by UPI, card or netbanking, which helps us keep Purohit.app running. If you find a typo later, fix it and download again.
How do you fill the tithi, nakshatra and lagna line?
From the date, the muhurat time and the city, at that moment, the way a panchang would, and in the form each language's cards use. Kannada cards get the samvatsara and Shaka year, the South Indian month, the paksha, the tithi and the lagna; Marathi cards the South Indian month, the tithi and the Shaka year; Hindi cards the North Indian month, the tithi and the samvat; an English card for a city in the south or west (Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa) also gets the nakshatra and the lagna. The tithi and nakshatra are taken at the muhurat time. You can change every word of the line; check it with your purohit before you print.
Our muhurat is after midnight. Which date goes on the card?
The wedding day you choose, with the time marked as that night. The maker asks which night you mean, and works out the tithi for the real moment - a 1:15 am muhurat can fall in the next tithi.
Can the groom's side and the bride's side each make their own card?
Yes. Each side names its own child first, as real cards do. Choose who is inviting, and the order and the words change to match.
Can I print it at a local shop?
Yes. The PDF is a 5 x 7 inch card at print quality with 3 mm extra on every side for the printer to trim.
Do you keep the details I type?
No. The card is made on your own phone or computer: the names, the venue and the rest of the wording are not sent to us. Only the date, the muhurat time and the city go to our server, to work out the date line.
Which languages can I make it in?
English, Hindi, Kannada and Marathi. Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and Gujarati are being added once each language's wording has been checked by a native reader.
Can I change the card later?
Yes, on the same phone, as often as you like, and in any language or design.
Does the card have a picture of Ganesha?
No - the invocation is written in words, and the designs use auspicious motifs such as the kalash and the toran, and traditional Indian ornament. Many people prefer this, because printed cards with deity pictures end up being thrown away after the wedding.
